Obituary of John Alty
Following a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer, Mr. John David Alty passed away peacefully at home on July 16, 2014. Born in Salford, England on February 25, 1946, he was the son of the late Alfred and Gladys (Winson) Alty. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his loving wife Patricia Ann Alty (Humphrey). Family was everything to John; weekends were often spent at the soccer pitch coaching or watching his kids play the sport he loved. Later in life he enjoyed travelling with his family. John died the way he lived surrounded by his loved ones. John will be sadly missed by his two sons, David Winson Alty (Cecile Proctor) and John William ("Billy") Alty, both of Saint John; his daughter, Alexis Angela Brown (Cory) of Saint John and his two grandchildren Kate and Matthew Brown. Also survived by his brother-in-law Peter Humphrey (Jane) of Saint John; his sister-in-law Rosemary Janes of Norton; his cousins Trevor Winson (Margaret) of Arizona and Carol Winson of Saint John.Family will be receiving visitors at Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, NB, E2M 2L3, on Friday, July 18, 2014 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2014 from the Castle “Fallsview” Chapel at 11:00am. Donations made to the SJRH Foundation, or Bobby’s Hospice would be greatly appreciated by the family. Online condolences can be made at www.castlefh.com
