Obituary of Ona Vessey

Vessey, Ona Marie - The death of Ona Marie “Queenie” Vessey, wife of Francis Joseph Vessey, of West Saint John, N.B., occurred on Sunday, July 22, 2012 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late Walter Thomas and Ruth Josephine Harrington. She was pre-deceased by her parents and one brother, Wayne Harrington. Ona Marie was a Charter member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, a 50-year member of the Hillcrest Senior Choir, and one of the founders of the congregation's “Love In Action” ministry. Ona Marie leaves behind her beloved husband Francis; her only son Lowell, and his wife Kimberley, of Saint John; one sister Callie (Gordon) Cobham, of Saint John; several nieces and nephews, and one special nephew Matthew Cobham, who was more like her grandchild. Resting at Hillcrest Baptist Church from where the funeral will be held on Wednesday July 25, 2012 at 11:00 o’clock, with a reception to follow in the church hall. Visiting will be held at the church on Tuesday July 24, 2012 from 2 to 4 pm and 5 to 8 pm. Following cremation, interment will take place in Greenwood cemetery on Thursday at 3pm. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Diabetes Association, or Hillcrest Baptist Church would be appreciated by the family.
