Obituary of Ronald Yeomans
Mr. Ronald George Yeomans passed away peacefully at Bobby’s Hospice on February 23, 2015. Born February 4, 1920, son of the late Fred T. and Florence E. (Bubar) Yeomans. Ron was the last surviving member of his immediate family. After graduating from Sussex High, he went into the RCA during The Second World War and served in Sicily, Italy, and NW Europe. Ron entered Canadian Customs in 1945 and retired in 1977. In 1967 he was awarded the Centennial Medal. He was a member of the R.C.L.B #69, and past honorary President of the R.C.L.B #69, and made Honorary president in December 2014.Ron is survived by his wife Gertrude (Trudy); two sons; Ralph (Shelley) of Vancouver and Kenneth (Margaret) of Ottawa; three daughters; Nancy Thorne (Bill) of Rothesay, Fay Colwell (Dwayne) of Saint John and Margo Yeomans (Roderick) of Selkirk MB; two step-daughters Edith Tippett and Geraldine Wilson (Wayne). Also survived by 6 grandsons, 4 granddaughters, 5 great-grandsons, 3 great granddaughters as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife of 53 years, Dorothy (Burchill) Yeomans, six brothers and two sisters.Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, February 25, from 2-4 pm & 7-9pm at Castle Funeral Home, with The Royal Canadian Legion Tribute at 7:00 pm. The Funeral Service will take place from Castle “Fallsview” Chapel on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at 2:00 pm Rev. Leander Mills officiating. Following the service there will be a reception at the RCLB #69. Donations made to Bobby’s Hospice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
