Marguerite Ruth Catherine Whitenect1917 - 2015At the end of her long, eventful and happy life Marguerite Whitenect passed away peacefully at the SJRH. Predeceased by her husband Jack Whitenect she leaves behind her loving children; Faith McKenney (Douglas), Ruth Green (Robert), Ronald (Joanne), Heather (Ron Fineberg), Frank (Cathy) and Alice, along with 11 multi-generational grandchildren (there is lifetime span of 46 years between the oldest and youngest grandchild) and 5 great grandchildren.A lifelong resident of Saint John, Marguerite worked at Canada Packers and the NB Protestant Orphanage. As a very active member of Legion Branch 64, she held various executive positions, enjoyed Legion life and the correspondence that came with it. Marguerite was always writing a letter to someone in her beautiful and precise script. New babies were welcomed with a hand-knit hat, booties or sweater made by her nimble fingers and great knitting talent. Huge pairs of tightly-knit wool socks were passed out as thank you for jobs well done. The family is very grateful for the care over the past few years from the staff at We Care Home Health Services. Special thanks to Marg & Peter Gould for always being there exactly when necessary.Family and friends are welcome to visit Castle Funeral Home Wednesday, July 8th from 2 - 8pm with a funeral service Thursday, July 9th at 9am in the Castle Funeral Home Chapel.
