Obituary of Donald Douglas James Patterson "Bud"

Patterson, Donald Douglas James (“Bud”), Quispamsis NB passed away on January 2nd 2013 in the Saint John Regional hospital. Born July 30th, 1932 in Saint John he was the son of James Arthur and Helen Josephine (Murray) Patterson.  Known by most as Bud or Grump he was an avid coach and fan with Lancaster hockey and little league for many years. After 33 years as a production foreman at Kimberly Clark/Irving Tissue, Bud retired on the Washademoak.  Some of his favorite past times since retiring were mowing the grass, riding his four wheeler, looking for deer and singing with Hank Snow.  He was a 50 year member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 69, Lancaster and a former member of the NB Scottish regiment pipe band as a base drum player. Survived by his wife Christine Janet (Griffith) Patterson, daughters Angela Patterson (Ron Titus) Glenmont NS, Cheryl Campbell (David) Saint John NB, Janet Briggs (Jamie) Dartmouth NS, sons Don Patterson (Maureen Cusack) Quispamsis NB, Rick Patterson (Cindy Achorn) Cole Harbor NS; sister Joan O’Brien, grandchildren: Delany Titus, Christa Campbell-Rhodes, Andrew Campbell, Rhett Titus, Traci (Campbell) MacVay,  Rian Kleinke, Jennifer Patterson, Jason Briggs, Jenna Briggs, Maria Patterson, Dennis Patterson, Laura Patterson, Sherri Patterson; 13 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Resting at Castle Funeral Home, “Fallsview Chapel”, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John West (634-1701) visitation will be held on Friday, January 4th from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at Castle Funeral Home Fallsview Chapel on Lancaster Avenue, Saturday January 5th at 1:00 pm, interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Parkinson Society Maritime Region, Saint John Chapter or charity of donors’ choice.
