Obituary of Mary Elizabeth Stuart
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Mary Elizabeth Stuart, of Saint John and Ottawa. The daughter of the late Frank K. Stuart MD and Elizabeth (Betty) Jean Stuart RN, Mary was born in 1965 in Saint John. A graduate of St. Vincent’s High School, Mary moved to Ottawa in 1998 and made it her home. Mary had a life-long love of music. Mary studied singing and piano but her true love was the violin, playing in the New Brunswick Youth Orchestra for a time and in an amateur orchestra in Ottawa. Mary joined the congregation of the Dominion Chalmers United Church in Ottawa, sang in their choir and volunteered in their office. In her spare time Mary also liked to write poetry and children’s stories.Mary is survived by three brothers: Robert (Joanne) of Ottawa, David (Sari) of Rothesay, and Frank (Pamela) of Saint John. She is also survived by one niece, Sarah of Ottawa, two nephews, Joshua of Vancouver and Shawn of Saint John, and one great nephew, Weston, of Ottawa. Mary passed away suddenly, four days before her fiftieth birthday, shortly after arriving in Saint John to attend her mother’s funeral. Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John (634-1701). Visitation will be held on Wednesday October 14, 2015 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held from Castle Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday October 15, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers remembrances to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated.
