Dear Stuart Family,I have known Mary for 15 years. I just learned of her death today, and wish to express my condolences on her passing, and that of your mother. Mary was such a sweet woman. I met her in my volunteer capacity in Ottawa, and she was so kind to me. She would offer me tea, cookies, scones - usually I couldn't accept more than a tea as I was busy, so she began to offer me a violin serenade after I was done. I looked forward to that all year. Mary was a lovely person, and she will be very much missed by many here in Ottawa. Kind regards, Maryanne Pearce

My condolences to Robert, David and Frankie on Mary's death and your mother's. I have such warm memories of Aunt Betty from the first time that she visited us in Montreal just after your parents' marriage. It was always a pleasure visiting your house as an undergraduate when she always made me welcome as she did especially during for two years while I was working at UNBSJ. During that time I go to know Mary better - she was in high school and keenly involved in music. She was kind enough to babysit Rosalind one Halloween night, as I recall. You have my sympathy in what must be a very trying time.

It was a total shock to hear of Mary's passing. I feel that I lost my little sister. Mary was very close to me and my mother. Mary and I always would talk on Sunday nights to catch up on each other's news for the week. Mary, this is for you...be good, behave yourself, keep your feet on the ground, keep your stick on the ice, and keep your laundry clean. Til I see you in heaven, I will surely miss you, girl !!Much love to the Stuart family and may God keep you in the comforts of his mighty arms.

To the Stuart Family,Our sincere condolences on the loss of your dear Mother. We were shocked to learn that our dear Mary, Sister in Christ, passed so suddenly. Our Dominion-Chalmers Harmony group were saddened today when Reverend James Murray conveyed the sad news to our group of 23 today. Others were asking for her because they had phoned and left a message and she didn't return the call.Mary was a wonderful person and had many great qualities. She always had jokes and poems to share with us each Wednesday she attended the group. She enjoyed playing 6-handed euchre and wouldn't miss attending if she could help it. She often indicated to me it was one of her special days of the week. She also enjoyed playing cribbage and scrabble. Singing in the church choir and other choral groups and playing her violin were indeed her passions. Several years ago, I attended a Christian camp with Mary. As individuals, we had to present something to the group. Mary's poetry was exceptional. During the quizzes at D.C. Harmony, Mary was extremely knowledgeable and was the first to give the correct response on many, many occasions. At our annual Christmas Yuletide Fair, Mary selected appropriate Christmas music to play at our Christmas Luncheon. An excellent touch and treat for those attending the luncheon at the moment she was to play. She led our D.C. Harmony group in singing oldies prior to our service starting. Mary was extremely well mannered and something to be proud of.Our thoughts and prayers are with you at your Memorial Service tomorrow.Matthew 5:4 Blessed are those who mourn for they shall be comforted.Rest in peace Mary and please continue to watch over our every changing D.C. Harmony Group. You will be remembered and thank you for your many contributions in your lifetime. With heavy hearts,Margaret McLean and Bill Weatherup, Ottawa, Ontario (Table Euchre Players)

My deepest condolences to the family.I was very saddened to hear of Mary's passing and so incredibly close to your mom's passing. I have such fond childhood memories growing up with Mary on the "west side". It brings a smile as I remember the fun times, playing board games, decorating the Christmas tree, playing soccer baseball in the "field" beside the house. Oh my, great memories. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you.Sincerely,Marilyn

On behalf of Dominion-Chalmers United Church, may I offer our sincere condolences on the loss of Mary. She was a beloved member of our church family. She shared her love of life with us in so many ways. She told the best jokes that would make a rough day into a great day. She believed in the goodness of the people around her, which made us better. She was generous in her time and giving. She had a beautiful voice. I remember one Sunday when in the anthem she had a solo part. Everyone was amazed at the power and clarity of her voice. When I shared news of her passing to the Wednesday Harmony group. they were all deeply saddened. She was loved by us all and will be greatly missed. May she find peace in the arms of God.

I am saddened to hear of the loss of Mary. She was a wonderful classmate and we were in the high school choir together for the three years of high school. She really was a lovely person and loved music. Now she can sing and play her music with the other musical angels in heaven. Thinking of your family during this difficult time.

Mary ~ We got together a few times for lunch to catch up and it always seemed my life had something chaotic going on and I was stressed; and your life was simple and you were a calm and peaceful person. I drew from that and always came away feeling more at peace and calmer because of you. Thank you for that. Clearly you had many gifts, both outwardly and intrinsically. Feeling blessed- thank you, my dear ~ Peace be with you

Mary was a long-time member at Dominion-Chalmers and a volunteer in the office for many years. Mary will be greatly missed by everyone here who dearly loved her. Mary was kind, generous, a very talented musician with her violin, and sang beautifully in the church choir. In the office I would often get compliments on how wonderfully Mary responded to calls and visits to the office. She made you feel well received and cared for. Mary had a way with words! The accounting work that Mary did for me always came back with a note attached: a bit of humour in a poem, a short story, or simply a note of thanks to God for his many blessings. Some of Mary's poems were published in our DC quarterly newsletter. One of Mary's many talents.I will miss Mary very much... Judy

Hello Rob, David and Frank,Janet told me the sad news about your mother but I have been a bit under the weather and only found out about the passing away of your sister and my cousin a few minutes ago today, October 15.Hearing the news sent me on a trip down memory lane. Your sister was a feisty little girl, splashing and jumping into the water before she even knew how to swim. This was at the cottage that your family rented from Dr. Cheeseman, when Mary was about four. The next time I spent some time with her she was a pre-teen. She was a great conversationalist, with a lot of interesting things to say. After she moved to Ottawa I saw her once or twice. I was struck with her prettiness, her eyes very blue and her cheeks very rosy. She called me a few times in Toronto to keep up the family connection. I appreciated this.It is moment of double sorrow. I wanted to tell you that I have lasting memories of our family and to express my sympathies to you.Best wishes,Bstsy

Frank, David and Robert, words can't express the sadness and disbelief we are feeling over your sudden loss of Mary, and your Mom just a few short days before. We can't image the shock you are all feeling right now and we just want you to know that you are in our thoughts and prayers through all of this. And for the rest of the family - we know you must be all feeling the big hole that these two special women have left in their absence. We hope you find comfort in each other in the coming weeks because they will not be easy, but know that you have the love and support of your family and friends always.Stacey, John & Halle
