Obituary of Shirley Berdina Jones
“The gates of Heaven swung open, a loving voice said ”come” and Shirley gently took her Masters hand and her life on earth was done”
Shirley passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 24th at the Loch Lomond Villa at the age of 93. Born in Bishop’s Cove Spaniard’s Bay, Newfoundland she was the daughter of the late John & Violet Smith. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her two sons, Warren (Donna), George (Janet), four grand-children, Derek (Pam), Alison, Christopher, Jennifer (Scott) & two great grand-children, Emma & Abigail. She is also survived by two sisters, Marjorie Bennett & Florence Mercer and numerous nieces & nephews.
Shirley was predeceased by her loving husband Eleazar; sisters Mary & Clara, brothers Eric, Warren, Baxter & Fred, and brother in-laws Henry, Colin, John & Joe, sister in-laws Dorothy, Maisie, Carmel, & Doris, and other relatives and friends.
Shirley was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved going home to Bishops Cove to visit as often as she could. She was always knitting & loved to be surrounded by her family. In later years, she could be found with her husband at their cottage in Cambridge Narrows. She was a woman of faith and a member of Calvary Temple Church. In recent times she enjoyed facetiming with her sisters in Newfoundland and sharing fond memories of life growing up together.
The family would like to express their deepest heart felt appreciation to the staff at the Loch Lomond Villa for the professional and tender loving care during her 3-year stay at Birch House. A special thank you to Sarah and Lisa for making each day a special day for Shirley.
