Obituary of Ruth Maxine Gibbons
Passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Thursday, June 4, 2020 after a brave battle with cancer. Born in West Saint John on December 14, 1933, Mom was the daughter of the late Edna (Galbraith) and Charles Adams. She is survived by her devoted family; daughter Diane Simpson of Halifax, grandsons; Adam Simpson (Warren Jardine) of Halifax and Alex Simpson (Cait) and Mom’s newest love, great granddaughter Madeline, born June 2019 all of Moncton. Ruth is also survived by brothers; Bruce (Brenda), Charles (late Shirley), special sister Mert Long (late Bill), and many nieces and nephews across Canada. She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years Arthur (2012), son-in law Kenneth (2011), sisters; Jean Butler (late Buddy), Cledith Woodman (late Tom) and brother Glendon (late Adrianne). Mom or ‘Nan’ to many, was an amazing mother and grandmother, always eager to do whatever was required to make her crew feel happy and loved. A stylish little spitfire until the very end, she will be missed forever. Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John, NB E2M 2L3 506-634-1701. By request there will be no visitation and cremation has taken place. A Graveside Service will be held at a later date. Donations in Ruth’s memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
