Obituary of Mary Elizabeth Jean Cameron
Jean passed away peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital on July 9, 2020 after a brief period of failing health. Born January 9, 1927 and raised in Saint John she was the daughter of the late Frank and Bertha (Hatfield) Cameron. Jean was a graduate of Saint John High School, the Provincial Normal School and the University of New Brunswick. She spent her entire career as an elementary school teacher spending the majority of her career teaching grade one at Barnhill Memorial School. She loved to travel and visited countries all over the world. In her later years she enjoyed numerous bus trips throughout the Maritimes and New England States. Besides her parents she is predeceased by her brothers Frank Edmund Cameron and Reginald Cameron and her niece Miriam Stears. She is survived by nieces Frances Miller and Marilyn Benjamin and nephew Norman Cameron. She is also survived by numerous great and great great nieces and nephews. Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home Fallsview Chapel, 309 Lancaster Avenue (634-1701). A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 18, 2020 at 1:00 PM in Castle “Fallsview” Chapel. Interment will follow in Fernhill Cemetery. For those who wish, as Jean was a lifetime animal lover, donations to SPCA Saint John or the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
