Obituary of John Baxter Garnett
John “Jack” Baxter Garnett passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, April 8th 2019 at Kingsway Care Centre. Jack was born on December 27th, 1935 to Harry Charles and Daisy Eileen (Davidson) Garnett in Saint John, NB. He was the loving husband of the late Faye (Garfield) Garnett (2015) for 55 years. Jack worked as a Display Manager at Calp’s Department store for 39 years, designing elaborate windows for each season. He was a very talented and creative man; not only showcased through his displays at Calp’s, but in his paintings which have been featured all over Canada. In summer Jack loved spending time at the Cottage, countless memories and summers were spent there with family and friends; eventually this is where Jack and his wife Faye retired. He also enjoyed his time fishing in the Falls and gardening; especially tending to his vegetable garden which he was very proud of. Jack will be greatly missed by his children; Blaine (Sharon) Garnett of Quispamsis, NB and daughter Kelly (Phil) Stanton of Quispamsis, NB; brother Gary (Mavis) Garnett of Ontario; daughter in-law Cathy Garnett of St. Martins, NB; grandchildren Brennan and Brianna Garnett, Jonathan Davis, Greg (Holly) Garnett Jr., Bethann (Jerry) Totten and Emma Stanton; great-grandchildren Hayden and Gavin Totten; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Jack is predeceased by his parents Harry and Daisy; wife Faye; son Greg Garnett; sisters Doreen Sparks, Mary Walker and Joyce McLean; and brothers Bill Garnett and Delbert Garnett. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the dietary, housekeeping, Nurses, Doctors and all the Kingsway Care Centre Staff for their care, compassion and companionship to our Mother and Father over the years. Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John, NB, E2M 2L3 506-634-1701. Keeping with Jack’s wishes cremation has taken place. Interment will take place at a later date in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Donations in Jack’s memory can be made to the Kingsway Care Centre or charity of the donor’s choice.
