We were very sad to hear of Jack's passing. Jack had a pretty big impact on my life from an early age to present date. I recall in my early teens driving up to the Lake on weekends with Jack to dig 'post holes' for their future summer home. We would dig a hole, (the old fashion way) hit the water to cool down, have a snack and dig some more. It was a hoot for sure. And as time permitted he let me practice driving as I neared my 16th birthday! And, I got my licence days after my 16th birthday. Jack got me my first real job at age 15 at Calp's Shoe Department as a stock boy. Jack was also a bit of a 'cupid'. There was this young lady who worked in the clothing department who happened to catch my attention; Cathy O'KEEFE. Well Jack being Jack went to work and introduced us. That was about 47 years ago and Cathy and I are now approaching our 43rd wedding anniversary. Yes, I would say Uncle Jack definitely had a pretty big impact on my life! Faye without a doubt was the love of Jack's life and now they are once again together. Our thoughts and payers are with all of Jack's family and friends during this difficult time.

I worked with Jack at Calp's and always liked his smile and soft way of dealing with people and enjoyed calling him a friend. I have some of his works, he was a beautiful painter with a good eye for detail. My prayers go out to his family for their loss. God Bless

So sorry to read of Jack's passing. I worked with him a Calp's and was in on our many cribbage games, at lunch time. Jack was always so kind to everyone. He was a joy to work with. Please accept my sincere condolences.

I first met Jack in 1968 when I went to work in Calp's Department store. He was a big man with an even bigger heart and his work shop in the store basement was like a maze that only he knew how to move about to find just what he wanted. A smile was the only facial expression he wore. When a sale came up in a hurry he was making signs faster then if we could of had a machine. The signs were always ready for the sale table .....still wet, but on time. I recall when he won a National contest and won a new car back in 1969, but Jack couldn't drive. So between Joe Smith and Gerry Kindred he learned to drive. Also recall about this time of the year that Jack and Joe Smith (Calp's Office Manager) went to Grand Lake and in four days put the walls and roof up on the Cottage. The worked from dawn to dusk and by the time they finished their hands were swollen. Always good memories with Jack His devotion to his mother was amazing and I wish all children were that caring. Jack I know where you are now and you earned it. It is an honour to have known you. Gold Bless Gail and Greg Hughes

Blaine and Kelly, I was so saddened to hear of Jack’s passing... Of all my dads friends from calps he was my utmost favourite...I know he was not to fond of him for what happened between him and my mom. But he always had a hug and a smile and a “how ya doin’ Kiddo”. For me.....
