Obituary of George Arthur James
It is with heavy hearts the family of George Arthur James announce his passing on Sunday, March 24th at Bobby’s Hospice after a courageous battle with cancer. George was born on October 1st, 1937 to the late Samuel and Eleanor (Jennings) James in Saint John, NB. George started his career working at the Irving Oil Refinery where he retired from in 1994 however, he didn’t end his career there. George went on to start James Towing, where he continued to work hard running his newly established family business for many years. When George wasn’t working he loved fishing, woodworking and going to the family camp; where they spent their summers in Belleisle. He was an avid sports fan; he enjoyed watching NASCAR, baseball (Red Sox) and hockey (MTL Canadians). George was involved in local sporting teams; he played hockey for the SJ Moosehead team, he was the past President of the Lancaster Centennial Hockey League, and he took pride in sponsoring the Fundy Jaguars and Fundy Vipers Girls Softball teams. He was also a member of the Musquash ATV Club. The most important thing to George was his family, especially his grandchildren- they were his everything. George loved telling his grandchildren stories about history and his past, his favorite way to spend the day was with them. George will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 59 years Irene (Steen) James, sons; Jamie (Barb), Dwayne (Anna), Kevin (Shirley), and Jeff (Kelly), brother Wayne (Ann), grandchildren; Ryan, Megan, Kaitlyn, Matthew, Taylor and Shannon, several nieces and nephews.
