Obituary of Clarence Joseph Allain

Clarence Joseph Allain of Saint John, NB passed peacefully into heaven on the morning of Tuesday, December 18th at the Saint John Regional Hospital. He was the son of the late Peter and Lena (Babineau) Allain, born on March 30th, 1938 in Saint John. Clarence joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1956. He enjoyed his time serving our country, working as a Jet Engine Mechanic (CF-100, CF-101, CF-104, etc.). He served throughout Canada and Europe, eventually retiring as a Sergeant after 33 years. In his retirement Clarence enjoyed travelling; especially bus tours, his most recent trip was to Nashville in 2017. Clarence was the past President of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 2 and was also a long time parishioner of Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church. He was an avid sports fan. He especially liked the Montreal Canadians and New York Yankees, he also enjoyed listening to Willie Nelson. He will be dearly missed by his partner Wendy Gilbert of Saint John, sister Doreen deBos of Saint John, nephew Eric (Sue) Allain of Quispamsis, nieces; Denise (Todd) Hovey of Saint John, and Lynn Caputo (the late Chuck) of Florida, and other nieces, nephews, cousins and his Tim Hortons’ Buddies. Clarence is predeceased by his parents, brothers Edgar (Maria) and Norman Allain, brother-in-law Fred deBos, and nephew Mark deBos. Arrangements have been entrusted with Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John, NB E2M 2L3 506-634-1701. Keeping with Clarence’s wishes there will be no visitation, and cremation has taken place. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held from Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church on Saturday, December 22, at 9:00AM. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery. A reception will then be held at Castle “Fallsview” Reception Centre. In Lieu of flowers donations in Clarence’s memory can be made to Bobby’s Hospice or the charity of the donor’s choice.
