Obituary of Eleanor Marie Beckwith
With heavy hearts but with gratitude for a life well lived, the family of Eleanor Marie (Wilson) Beckwith announces her passing into the arms of her Lord Jesus, on December 20, 2017. Eleanor was born on October 6, 1935 in Saint John, and was a daughter of the late Marion Hatty and Gerald Wilson. She was the beloved wife of 44 years to the late John Beckwith who predeceased her 2001. Ellie was a self-proclaimed extrovert who was happiest when surrounded by her family and friends. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her greatest joy. Eleanor had a host of close friends and enjoyed playing bridge, traveling, gardening, and socializing. She was very strong in her Catholic faith and was a fifty year member of Assumption Parish. Eleanor is survived by her five children; Marianne (Robert Jones), Michael (Linda Rodger), Margo (late George Byrne), Maureen (Peter Toner), and Martin (Melissa Watson) all of the Saint John area. She is also survived by her sister Geraldine (late Boyd) McKiel, 13 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, husband, and son in-law George Byrne. Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, N.B. (634 1701). Visitation will take place on Friday, December 22, 2017 at 2:00PM-8:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Our Lady of Assumption Church, on December 23, 2017 at 10:00AM. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery. Donations to Bobby’s Hospice, J. George Bryne Scholarship or the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
