Obituary of Barbara J. Bogle
The death of Mrs. Barbara J. Bogle, 96, wife of the late Basil B. Bogle occurred at Ridgewood Veteran’s Wing on August 4th, 2018. Born in Yorkshire, England on October 5th, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Lillie Collins. A Veteran of World War II, Mrs. Bogle served with the R.A.F. On May 24th, 1947, Barbara arrived in Canada aboard the RMS Aquitania at Pier 21 in Halifax, NS as a war bride. Mrs. Bogle was a resident of Lepreau for 33 years where she was an active member of St. Margaret’s Anglican Church where she served as a choir member and reader. She was the past President of the Fundy Bay Seniors. Barb was an active member of the Seniors Bowling League and was an Executive Member of the British Wives Club for many years. She was well known for her knitting, her garden, cooking and her enthusiasm for card games. Mrs. Bogle is survived by four sons, Gary S. (Sharon) Bogle of Musquash, Graham L. (Marilyn) Bogle of Saint John, Kevin W. (Theresa) Bogle of Edmonton, AB, Adrian M. (Teresa) Bogle of Lepreau; one daughter, Sharon (the late Wayne) Stevens of Saint John West; eleven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren (and one on the way); several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother Walter Collins, son in law Wayne Stevens and one grandchild, Bruce Bogle. Resting at Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave., Saint John, NB (634-1701). The funeral service will be held from Castle Funeral Home Fallsview Chapel on Wednesday, August 8th, at 2:30 PM. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, August 7th, from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. Immediately following the service, a reception will take place at Castle Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Donations to CNIB, Canadian Diabetes Association and Bobby’s Hospice are appreciated.
