My condolences to all of the Mantin family on the passing of dear Karen Ann - a warm-hearted and generous friend. I first met Karen when she was undergoing chemotherapy - she fought off the challenges while caring for family and friends, and knitting for everyone in her circle and beyond. Her courage, will, generosity and creativity will always be an inspiration to me.

Her son John and I will forever have holes in our hearts and in our schedules. She loved her shopping trips and getting ready for the next Christmas come boxing day. She was an every day part of our world and that world will never be the same.

Karen Ann is my first cousin. Her mother and my father were siblings. It has only been about 7 years that I have actually been more in contact with her and during that time, she has taken my grand son on as one of her "just have to make a sweater for" recipients. He is now 6 years old and has 6 beautiful masterpieces from her. And much more than that, Karen Ann really cared about any family updates she could pump from us. She was, and is, a gem. She has earned her wings. We will miss her deeply, but at the same time, we are equally glad she can now be done with her medical challenges associated with this Earth life. Rest in peace my cousin, my friend. Sending my love upwards, Theresa Elise Straight and family

She was a good friend of 25 years. Mom met her online on a Down Syndrome group when my brother Gaylen and her grandson Joey was 5 years old. Mom dared to say that my brother was rotten and received a lot of negative comments, she took up for her. Thus started a lasting friendship. Cause believe me, Gaylen is rotten and still is. lol.
Every year at Christmas time and birthdays, you could always expect a box or package. Many letters, emails and phone calls back and forth, tho we never met in person, we were closer than most people you meet in person. She will be forever loved and missed.
