Obituary of Walter David Wilson
It is with great sadness that the family announces the unexpected passing of Walter David Wilson on January 11, 2025 He was born in Saint John NB on July 26, 1958 (during salmon fishing season!), Walter was the son of the late Leonard Wilson and Emily (May) Wilson.
He grew up a proud “Westsider”, where he lived his entire life. He was an employee of NB Power for many years. He was also a member of Branch 69 Legion, where he proudly volunteered each year for the annual Poppy Campaign! He was a lover of dogs, and over the years, he had many faithful companions, usually German Shepherds. He leaves behind his adopted companion Jack! Walter was a lover of bagpipes and had taken a great interest in them over the years, enjoying the music and wanting to learn to play. He also was a frequent guest at the comedy club, where for many years he participated in selling 50/50 tickets, while enjoying the comedians!
Walter and his wife Cathy enjoyed 35 years together, and he struggled after her passing away from cancer in 2020. Walter also fought, and beat, his own cancer battle in 2017.
Walter was a talented photographer and never went anywhere without a camera around his neck! He recently enjoyed photographing scenery and sunsets.
Walter is survived by his siblings Brenda Tower (John) of Grand Bay-Westfield, Cynthia Agnew (Stephen) of Quispamsis, Arliss Wilson (Elaine), of Saint John NB and Robert Wilson (Angela), of Rothesay NB, and brother - in- law, Keith Cooke, Nieces, Meghan Bruhm, Rebecca Agnew, Emily Wilson, Morgan Wilson, Brooke Wilson, nephews Daniel Tower, Dale Tower, Luke Agnew, Michael Wilson, Rocky Cooke and Robin Cooke.
Walter was predeceased by his wife Catherine Cummings, his parents Leonard and Emily Wilson, his sister Paulette Cooke and nephew Randy Cooke.
Resting at Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John NB with visitation on Thursday, January 16, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. Funeral services will be held at Castle Funeral Home on Friday, January 17, at 11:00 am. A reception will be held following the funeral service. Interment will take place at Lorneville “Seaview” Cemetery in the spring of 2025. Donations to the Lorneville Cemetery fund, or the SPCA would be appreciated by the family.
