Obituary of Margaret Kathleen Janes
It is with great sadness the family announce the passing of Margaret Kathleen “Kay” Janes on Friday, January 10, 2025, at Kennebec Manor Nursing Home with her family by her side. Born in Grand Harbour, Grand Manan on September 24, 1926, Kay was a daughter of the late Owen David Ingalls and Roberta Georgina Carey (Wooster) Ingalls, and beloved wife of the late Harvey Janes (2013).
Kay is survived by four sons; Edwin (Wanda) Janes, of Little Lepreau, Gary (Ruby) Janes, of St. George, Arthur Janes, of Saint John, Stephen Janes, of Lepreau, four daughters; Gloria(Jim) McAninch, of Niagara Falls, Ont, Rosalie (George) Maker, of P.E.I., Karen (David) Belding, of Chance Harbour, and Darlene (Scott) Estey, of Spruce Lake, seventeen grandchildren; Tina Landry, Amanda Tustin, Nicholas Janes, Melissa Sue Pitchford, Owen Janes, Brittany Janes, Brandon Janes, Jeremy Wilson, Brian McAninch, Janet Angelkotter, Paula Andrews, Pamela Johnston, Nathan Maker, Shelly Maisonneuve, Darren Belding, Anthony Estey, and Gail Estey, twenty five Great Grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Kay was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Kay was predeceased by her parents, Owen and Roberta Ingalls, her beloved husband; Harvey Janes (2013), five brothers; Howard Ingalls, Henry Ingalls, Junior Ingalls, Jack Ingalls, and Walter Ingalls in infancy, two sisters, Jean Kissner, Daisy Annis.
Resting at Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, N.B. (506 634 1701). A visitation will be held on Tuesday January 14, 2025, at Castle Funeral Home from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at 2:00pm at the Church of the Good Shepherd. Interment will take place in Maces Bay Cemetery in the spring of 2025.
