Obituary of Christopher Gerard Harley
It is with broken hearts the family announce the passing of Christopher Gerard Harley on Sunday December 29, 2024 at the Saint John Regional Hospital with his family by his side, after a period of failing health. Born in Saint John, on November 26, 1957, Christopher was a son of the late James Leo and Kathleen (Cronin) Harley, and husband of Mary Jane (McBriarty) Harley.
Christopher was a proud Clarendon St. boy. He graduated from St. Malachy’s High School. Coffee Corner on Kennebacasis Island was his special place at the family camp. He took so much pride during his time as caretaker of the Assumption Church. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. Christopher loved sitting in his chair looking out over the harbour. Chris enjoyed his trips to Fenway with his brothers to watch the Red Sox, and he had many fond memories of his youth in Chapel Grove being part of the “Three Amigos”.
Christopher is survived by his beloved wife; Mary Jane (McBriarty) Harley, one daughter; Allison (Ryan) Harley, of Saint John, one son; Adam (Natalie) Harley, of Westfield, grandchildren; Brooklyn, Brynn, Charlee, Hunter, and Bear, two brothers; Joseph “Joe” (Carolyn) Harley, Robert “Bob”(Lorraine) Harley, many brother in laws and sister in laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Christopher was predeceased by his parents; Leo and Kathleen Harley, and one brother; Thomas Harley.
The arrangements are under the care and direction of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, N.B. (506 634 1701). As per Christopher’s wishes cremation has taken place. A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday January 2, 2025 at Our Lady of Assumption Church at 12.00pm. A reception will be held at the Assumption Center following the Mass.
