Obituary of Gerald Ian Swan

With appreciation for a life well lived, Gerald Ian Swan was called home, back into the arms of his late wife Carol on December 20, 2024.Gerry was born, prematurely, weighing 3lbs and 6ozs on July 9, 1948, in Harvey, NB to parents Glenna and Matthew Smith Swan. Gerry was the youngest of 4 children and in his youth, moved to Fredericton to complete high school. He earned his diploma in 1969 and maintained his friendships he found along the way from then on. Donna Maclean, his very best friend, Ted White, Wanda and Paul Farrell and John and Clara O'Brien are a few of the very special friends Gerry carried dear to his heart. If Gerry cared about you and considered you a friend, it was forever, and he would do anything for you.
One of Gerry's favorite pass times was bowling at the old castle lanes on Carleton Street.  There, he would have all of his buddies laughing until their sides ached with his wicked sense of humor.Gerald met the love of his life, Carol Joyce Hall whom he married in 1972 and together they loved and raised two beautiful children. They enjoyed travelling, cruises and many trips through Canada and the US. Gerry's love and loyalty always meant regular visits with friends near and far. When he wasn't travelling, or enjoying a glass of his homemade wine or beer, he earned his living at Irving Pulp & Paper for 37 years, retiring in 2001.

Gerry is survived by his daughter, Angela Simpkin (ON), son in law Glenn Simpkin, their daughters Gillian and Joseline; his son Andrew Swan, daughter in law Amanda, their son Carson; step daughter Beverly Stevens Croxall(AB) her sons Zackary and Jozeph; his sister Barbara Swan (BC) and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Gerry was predeceased by his parents; his brothers Dennis and Matthew Smith (Junior), and his lovely wife Carol (2022) whom he loved and missed dearly. They are together again, at last.

The family would like to thank Maurice LeBlanc for all of the help, care and companionship he showed to Gerry. It is greatly appreciated. Special thanks to Chateau de Champlain for the care they provided over the last two years.

The family would like to welcome visitors to Castle Funeral Home on January 26, 2025, from 1pm-4pm and there will be a private internment in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, donations to Multiple Myeloma Canada through their website or to a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
