Obituary of Shirley June Scott
After a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease, Shirley June Scott passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 19, 2024at the Saint John Regional Hospital surrounded by her family. Shirley was born on June 2, 1942 in Woodstock NB to the late Roy and Margaret (Ivey) Faulkner.
Shirley will be greatly missed by her loving husband of 63 years, Floyd Scott, son Kevin Scott (Nicky) and their children; Chandler (Maddie), Colton, Carter, and Shelby, daughter Krista Dixon (Craig) and their son Rowan, sisters; Marjorie Graham (Roland) and Joyce Graham, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her sisters Doris Atherton and Elizabeth ‘Bessie’ Graham.
Shirley worked for many years as a legal stenographer before staying home to raise her children. She volunteered with home and school and Girl Guides as a leader. She returned to worklater in life doing in store demos for many years.
Shirley and Floyd made wonderful memories together over the years. They loved going on trips around the Maritimes on their Honda Goldwing, and camping in St. Andrews for the past decade, where they made great new friends. Shirley was a wonderful cook who would feed everyone that visited with big homemade meals and desserts. She enjoyed doing crafts and gardening as a team with Floyd.
The family would like to thank Shirley’s caregivers from Darlene’s Home Care, whose wonderful team enabled her to stay at home for an extended period with her illness, and where they developed many close friendships. They would also like to thank the staff of 3DS (Family Medicine) , 3BN (Palliative Care), and especially Dr. Chris O’Brien for all their wonderfulcare and compassion given to Shirley during her journey.
Arrangements are under the care of Castle Fallsview Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John, NB E2M 2L3. Service time to be announced. Interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations in Shirley’s memory can be made to Parkinsons Canada or a charity of the donor’s choice.
