Obituary of Doreen June Elliott
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Doreen June Elliott, wife of the late Frank Elliott, announce her passing on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Doreen was born on June 1, 1934, in Saint John, NB to the late Thomas and Mary Helen “Minnie” LeBlanc.
Doreen was the definition of love and light. She brought joy to everyone. Doreen adored her family and loved being surrounded by them, playing music, singing, dancing and enjoying meals together. Nanny Elliott’s house was the place to be! If there is one thing Doreen knew, it was Style. You could always find her at the 4 o’clock drop where everyone knew her as “The Queen of Frenchy’s.” Doreen was always so beautifully dressed, loved her perfume and was the best-looking lady on the West Side.
Doreen was truly the most wonderful Mother and Grandmother. She always led with love. Doreen was kind-hearted, patient and spent her entire life seeing the beauty in everyone and everything life had to offer. Doreen was an amazing “Nanny Elliott” to all her grandchildren and their many friends. She treated everyone as if they were her own. She has touched many lives with her hilarious sense of humor, tight hugs, her joy for life and her contagious laughter. Doreen’s love of music and dancing lit up any room, road or highway. No matter where she was or what she was doing, if the right song came on, she would stop and dance her heart out. Doreen also enjoyed the quiet times with a “cuppa” tea and her secret chocolate stash.
You will be dearly missed, “MOM” and “NANNY”. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all your love and dedication you gave to our entire family. Rest in peace in the arms of your Frankie, TOGETHER AGAIN!
Doreen will be dearly missed by her children; Troy Elliott (Jennifer), Wendy Lambert (Jack), June McEachern (predeceased by her son-in-law, Patrick McEachern), Lynn Charlton (Edwin), sister Mary Guthrie (predeceased by her brother-in-law Winston Guthrie), grandchildren; Ginger, Heidi, Elliott, Tara, Nick, Coeby, Laura, Taylor, Tyler, Emma and Drew, great grandchildren; Brittany, Kaleb, Mackenzie, Olivia, Cruz, Kloee, Jayla, Cayden, Oliver, Liam, Caysen, and Franky, great -great grandchildren; Ava and Jax, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Frank, Doreen was predeceased by her siblings; Paul, Thomas, Walter, Alvery, and Arthur and brother-in-law James’s “Jimmy” Elliott, who Doreen spent many years as his caregiver. A special thank you to Doreen’s dear friend and caregiver, Glenna Doucette, and her dear friend Sue Smith who never missed a week delivering Holy Communion and special treats. Thank you to Heidi and Laura for the extra care and comfort you gave to Nanny.
