Obituary of Jacqueline Dawn Rooney

It is with great sadness the family of Jacqueline Dawn Rooney announce her passing on November 9, 2024, at Shannex Tucker Hall. Born in Woodstock, N.B. in 1947, Jacqueline was a daughter of the late Archibald Bertram Reid and Ruby Jane (Barrett) Reid and beloved wife of Paul Joseph Rooney.

Jacqueline is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Paul; two sons; Peter Rooney, and Christopher (Nancy) Rooney, both of Grand Bay – Westfield one daughter; Cathleen (Greg) Cromwell, of Darlings Island, eight grandchildren; Douglas Rooney, Katelyn (Brian) Rooney, Ashley (Alex) Rooney, Amelia Cromwell, George Rooney, Matthew Cromwell, Owen Rooney, Eden Rooney, and one great grandson; Beckett Garvin - Rooney; as well as several nieces and
nephews, cousins, and close friends.

Jacqueline was the last surviving member of her family. Besides her parents; Archibald and Ruby Reid she was predeceased by her brother; Arnold Reid, and two sisters; Edna Reid, and Claudia Moore.

Jackie retired from the School Board after 23 years as an Administrative Assistant, working at King Edward Elementary School, Saint John High School, Saint Rose School and at the District Office. Outside of work, her talents were endless! She was a beautiful seamstress, and in her free time loved to knit, macrame, do crewel work and cross stitch. To top it all off, she was an exceptional baker and made the most delicious chocolate cake and lemon squares.
From dances at the KBM, to playing Ramoli with the girls; making annual trips to Bangor and Davidson Lake, as well as years of camping at Mic Mac Trailer Park, Jackie sure knew how to have a great time. Countless weekends were spent at the trailer with family and friends, always filled with love and laughter.

When her family needed her, Mom was always there, no matter what. We loved our mom more than words can express. She will never be forgotten and fondly remembered by all who knew her.

The family would like to thank the staff of Shannex Tucker Hall for making mom feel at home and cared for over the last 11 months. The bonds you created with Mom and your kindness, care and compassion did not go unnoticed. Thank you!
