Obituary of David Vernon Emery Patterson
It is with deep sadness that the family of David V Patterson, husband of Sheila (Plumbley) Patterson of Saint John, announce his passing at Bobby's Hospice on October 23rd 2024. David was born in Saint John on July 12th, 1938 to the late Vernon and Dorothy (Veitch) Patterson.
David loved his Boston Bruins and for countless years would look forward to watching each game on TV. Before going to the Irving Pulp and Paper Mill he served 5 years in the Navy.
He was a loving husband to Sheila for 65 years and a wonderful father to his sons Paul and David Mark, and daughter Michelle who passed at Bobbys as well in May of 2015. David was a great friend to many and was close with all up at the trailer in Cambridge Narrows. Despite his battle with cancer in previous years he loved fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, four wheeling and above all his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Besides his beloved wife Sheila, his sister Patsy and his sons, Paul (Lori), David Mark and son in law Jeff James (Kelly). He is survived by his grandchildren Matt (Jennifer), Sondra (Brian), Ryan, Taylor and Shannon along with great grandchildren Lyla, Reid, Wyatt, Colter, several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and daughter, David was predeceased by his sister Nancy Elder, her husband Edward Elder and their daughter Kelley Elder.
The family would like to extend their greatest gratitude towards Bobby’s Hospice for their continued dedication and care towards our family.
Arrangements are under the care of Castle Fallsview Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John, NB E2M 2L3, 506-634-1701. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM, with a Memorial Service following at 1:30 PM. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in David’s memory can be made to Bobby’s Hospice.
