Obituary of David Cyril Green
David Cyril Green passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 with family by his side at Rocmaura Nursing Home. David was born on October 1, 1945 in Saint John, NB to the late John and Loretta (McGrath) Green.
David is survived by his loving wife of nearly 6 years, Joan Maguire-Green. His children: David Green (Geri), Jason Green and Tara Prosser (Gary). His step children: Julie (Bob) Hebert, Jeff (Cindy) Maguire. His grandchildren: Nicole, Matthew, Samuel, Benjamin, and Kaylee. His step-grandchildren: Ally Hebert, Dylan Hebert, and Matthew Maguire. His siblings: Lorne Green (Marjorie), Kevin Green (Ruth), Maureen Carter, Delores Ross (Les), Nancy Planter (Al), Joyce White (Bobby), Norma Hardy, and Glenda Lussier, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents David was predeceased by his brothers Peter, Bobby and Jack Green, sisters, Kay Russeff, Shirley Moir, Valerie Carmodie, and Lorraine Duffy, and brothers in law Richard Carter, John Hardy, Ron Russeff, Weldon Moir and Allen Lussier.
According to David’s Facebook Profile he would describe himself in the following words: Trapper, Hunter, Fisherman, Storyteller, Singer and Grandfather. David was all these things and so much more to the people who knew him. He was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and grandfather who loved to make others smile by cracking jokes or winking at them.
David retired from Moosehead Breweries in 2005, after having worked there for 30 years as a forklift driver. Since retiring, he fell in love, got married and he has travelled to Europe, Cuba, Hawaii and across Canada. He also frequented the Mirimichi where he had a camp and loved to go fishing.
The family would like to thank the staff of Rocmaura Nursing Home for their excellent care and compassion while taking care of David this year.
Resting at Castle Fallsview Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John, NB E2M 2L3, 506-634-1701. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 2, 2024 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM and Tuesday, September 3, 2024 2:00PM – 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM- 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, September 4 2024, at 12:00 Noon at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Rose of Lima Worship Site . Interment will follow in Lorneville Cemetery, with reception at Lorneville Community Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations in David’s memory can be made to the Rocmaura Foundation, or that of the donors choice.
