Obituary of Everette Garth Saunders

It is with immense sadness that the family of Everette Garth Saunders announce his sudden passing on April 12, 2024. Born in Fredericton Junction, NB on September 25, 1957, he was a son of the late Edwin and Lois (nee Jones) Saunders.

Everette is survived by his two loving sons Alex (Alex) and Bradley (Martina) Saunders; sister Yvonne Kirpatrick (Silas); brother Brian (Geraldine) Saunders; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and godchildren. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Cheryl (nee Francis) Saunders.

Everette had a passion for the outdoors that led to his long career as part of the Department of Natural Resources for more than 40 years where his duties oscillated between being Welsford’s self-proclaimed “dumb old warden” and hydrological engineer overseeing the Musquash water shed. Inside and outside of work, animals were always a part of his life, from his own pets to pets dropped off by his kids, to the little rabbits outside and baby skunks that needed a drive to rehab facilities. However, as much as he loved nature and his work, his first love was his wife, Cheryl. Together they had two wonderful boys, and most of Everette’s time was dedicated to spending time with them (and as a personal taxi driver for their many sporting events). He also found great joy from music; he taught himself to play various instruments and would spend his evenings listening to his favourite tunes while working away on a crossword puzzle.

It was clear to anyone who interacted with Everette how much of a kind heart he had, and it is this that will be truly missed.
