Obituary of Sandra Lee Wentzell
After a brief battle with illness, Sandra Lee Wentzell passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Sandi was born on April 27, 1958 in Halifax, NS to the late Daren and Barbara (Fraser) Wentzell.
Sandi will be dearly missed by her daughter Samantha Wentzell (Patrick Sheehan), sisters; Deborah Knudson (Don) and Belinda Kerfont (Richard), granddaughter Allison Sheehan, grand dog Mia, and nieces and nephews; Daren Knudson, Dellanee Kahlke, Dean Knudson, Jamie Kerfont and Melissa Kerfont.
In addition to her parents, Sandra was predeceased by her brother Greg Wentzell, great-niece Brianne Kahlke, and her beloved dog Oscar.
Sandi’s family and friends were immensely important to her and she cherished her time spent with them. She was happiest when enjoying a glass of wine and sharing laughs with family and friends. She loved to cook and travel with her daughter. Whether it was a simple shopping trip or exploring the streets of Italy together, they always had a blast. Sandi had a zest for life and appreciated every moment and adventure that came her way. In recent years, she especially cherished her time spent with Sam at their shared summer place at Woolastook Campground, making memories on the paddle boards or late-night laughs around the fire. She lovingly referred to it as her “happy place”.
Sandi’s career was also very important to her. She spent over 30 years as a respected leader in the claims department for The Co-operators. She was highly regarded by her colleagues and cherished the friendships she made with them.
Sandi was an amazing soul who brought so much love, joy and positivity to those around her. Her kindness and generosity were unmatched and she always put others before herself. She will be remembered and missed dearly by so many who were fortunate enough to know and love her and to be loved by her. Her smile, laugh and huge heart will never be forgotten.
Arrangements are under the care of Castle Fallsview Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John, NB E2M 2L3, 506-634-1701. Keeping with Sandi’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sandra’s memory can be made to the Make-A-Wish Canada, the SPCA or a charity of the donor’s choice.
