Obituary of Michael Howard Lord
After a lengthy illness, Michael ‘Howard’ Lord “The Wander” passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at the Saint John Regional Hospital with his son by his side. Howard was born on May 18, 1943 in Saint John, NB to the late Roy and Rose (Richie) Lord.
He loved the seaside; he enjoyed beach combing, and metal detecting at all the beaches surrounding Saint John. He would often drive to the beach just to sit and take in the ocean. Howard also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and feeding his herd of cats, deer and raccoons that would often visit his home for a snack. In his earlier years Howard enjoyed speaking on CB Radio under his handle ‘The Wander” .
He was a true Westsider. Howard said he would never leave West Saint John and he didn’t unless of course, it was to go visit a beach. He said he did all his travelling while working with the Coast Guard on the Walter E Foster, just as his father did.
Howard is survived by his wife Judy, son Michael Lord and his wife Sherry, sisters; Polly Clifford (Henry) and Ann French (Billy), grandsons; Tyler and Zachary Lord, and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents Howard was predeceased by his grandson Robert Lord and brother Henry Le Bouthillier.
Arrangements are under the care of Castle Fallsview Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John, NB E2M 2L3. Keeping with Howard's wishes cremation has taken place, and no services will be held. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory can be made to the West Side Food Bank Saint John or a charity of the donor’s choice.
