Rita was a graceful support for all in District 20/8. Her quiet deep knowledge of the machinations of changing payroll systems over time was impressive.Rita knew us as individualis. When I asked how I was going to tell a 100-year old retiree that she no longer received a Government Grant - the immediate answer, “ Oh yes, she does!”. I taught with Rita’s sister - the Hooley brand always a firm gentle blessing.
Eternal joy,Rita.

Rita Hooley has been a part of my life as far back as I can remember. About 76 years. She was my Aunt Pat’s best friend. Single by choice they directed their love and energies to family, friends, career and travel. To God, to church and supporting those in need.
When I was having difficulty with computer coding at UNB Rita offered her time to assist me in a field that was not even her specialty. “Two heads better than one”, she said.
When Aunt Pat would visit with her family from Toronto, to Sweden, to Spain Rita would go with her. And when any of us came home for a visit time Rita would be there with welcoming arms.
Moving back to Saint John I found a rooftop flat uptown. I put off inviting the two ladies for lunch because of the stairs and their age. They pooh-poohed that excuse. So at the grand age of 82 my “Aunts” climbed 47 stairs up. And 47 stairs down. They loved the lunch but did not ask for a 2nd invite.
My soul is sore for Ellen, Michael, Patrick. Susan, Daniel, Barbara and the generations that follow. For John and Melanie Hooley who have been my fast friends for the past 10 years. And to my own family who loved Rita like an aunt.

My sincere condolences go out to all of Rita Hooley’s family and friends, on her passing. She was a great mentor & boss, to work with. I learned so much from her, over my first 10 years in the Payroll Department, at the District Office, on Lancaster Ave. I carry that knowledge with me, to this present day. Her gracious and kind manner, along with other great colleagues in the office, made us all feel we were working in a family atmosphere. Thank you for that, Rita. May you rest in peace.

Condolences to the "Ferris kids", and the generations that followed. Rita's presence in your lives was a God-given gift. Remember her exemplary, selfless life choice and the steadfast love of family that, even if you don't recogize it yet, she helped instill in you. It will be a gift for as long as you live. Rest in eternal peace, Rita, but not today. Today the Hooleys re-unite, love, reminisce, embrace, and, both cry and laugh from love.
