Obituary of James Harold Nordstrom

It is with heavy and broken hearts that the family of James Harold Nordstrom announce his passing on December 17th, 2023 after a period of declining health.
 

His lengthy journey to be reunited with his wife Margaret has come to an end. James (Bamie) was born in Saint John, NB on October 20th, 1937, to Charles Nordstrom and Violet Lobb and is survived by his children; Lori ( Bruce) Burke, Paula (Joao) Araujo, Stephen (Andrea) Nordstrom, Dana (Carrie)Nordstrom, Scott (Shelley) Nordstrom; his grandchildren Gregory (Sierra), Jeremy (Sydney), Jordan, Kayla (Matt), Spencer (Chelsey) Griffin, Graeme, Charlotte, Faith(Colton), Riley; Great Grandchildren, Ivy and Imogen and Brother Gerald (Marilyn), sister Barbara McNeil, and sister in law Yvonne Nordstrom.
 

Besides his parents Bamie was predeceased by his wife Margaret Ann (Partridge), brother, Bernard,sister Edwina(Scott) Hughes and brother in law Allen McNeil.

James was a devoted Husband, Father, and Grandfather and great grandfather. A 39 year-veteran of the Saint John Fire Dept retiring as a District Fire Chief. He always said “retirement was the best job ever”.

During his life he was an avid outdoorsman, he was fortunate to have time and freedom to expand his love and passion for Family, wood working, gardening, raising butterflies, and joining the boys on hunting trips at Big Indian Lake. He was also known for his story telling, admiring all aspects of nature, meeting new people and finding ways to help anyone in need. His journey continues now with his wife Margaret and all that have gone before him.

Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John, NB E2M 2L3. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 from 2:00 PM - 8:00 PM. A Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, December 21, at 11:00 AM at St. Lukes Anglican Church. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery with a reception in St. Lukes Church Hall. Donations maybe made in James memory to Kennebec Manor Resident Recreation Program
