Obituary of Angus Bryan MacDonald

Angus ‘Bogie’ Bryan MacDonald passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at Shannex Nursing Home surrounded by family. Bogie was born on June 24, 1945, in Pictou, Nova Scotia to the late Hugh Henry and Margaret Jane (MacMaster) MacDonald.

Bogie is survived his loving wife of 49 years, Sandi (Cornfield) MacDonald, brothers Robert Edward MacDonald (Diane) and Hugh MacDonald (Giselle), sister Cathy MacDonald, sister-in-law Lynn MacDonald, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents Bogie is predeceased by his brother Earl MacDonald.

Bogie was also known as the ‘Squad Father’ on his Rescue Squad and was a firefighter for 37 years retiring as Captain of Rescue Squad. He was very involved with the fire department; he played in the hockey league for numerous years and always participated in the Annual Fishing Derby.

Bogie was a devoted sports fan; he loved the Chicago Black Hawks, Los Angles Dodgers and LA Rams. He enjoyed having the squad over to watch all the games however, Sandi wasn’t allowed watch them. She was ‘jinxed’ when it came to watching sports. Any time Sandi was in the room and Bogie’s team was playing the opposing team would score a point.

Bogie and Sandi enjoyed camping at Hilltop Campground in Robbinston Maine for 25 years, they created many fond memories there with friends and family. Bogie loved dogs and was a proud supporter of the SPCA. His dogs were very important to him, he loved them with his whole heart; Biff, BJ Lasorda, Shannon and Jenny. Bogie also enjoyed music especially country western and 60’s music.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Shannex Cohen Hall for all the wonderful care and compassion given to Bogie during his time there.

Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John, NB E2M 2L3, 506-634-1701.
