Obituary of Charles Preston Jennings
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Charles Preston Jennings on Friday, November 24, 2023 at the Saint John Regional Hospital with family by his side. Charles on born on February 19, 1945 in Saint John, NB to the late A. Preston and Elsie (Byers) Jennings.
Charles is survived by his wife Lauretta (Mercer) Jennings of 59 years, children; Charles (Chuck)Jennings (Heather), David Jennings (Shirley), and Elaine Nickerson (Derrick), grandchildren; Mandi and Stephanie Jennings, and Mason Nickerson, step grandchildren; Sarah and Brandon Scott, many great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents Charles is predeceased by sister Elsie Archer (Gordon) brothers William Jennings (Frances) and John Jennings.
Charles was welder with NB Power for 35 years. At the age of 60 Charles taught himself how to play guitar, bass, banjo, mouth organ, accordions, and mandolin all by watching YouTube. Charles was jokester with a wonderful sense of humor, and he loved to hug. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his wife at the family camp and going on country drives. Charles and Lauretta have travelled to every province in the country except NFLD on their extensive drives.
Resting at Castle Fallsview Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John, NB E2M 2L3, 506-634-1701. Visitation will be held on Monday November 27, 2023, from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM. A Funeral Service will take place on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at 2:00 PM in Castle “Fallsview” Chapel. Interment will follow in the Church of the Good Shepherd Cemetery, with a reception at Castle Fallsview Funeral Home. Donations in Charles’s memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Diabetes Association, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
