Obituary of Robert Ernest Phillips
Our family is saddened to announce the passing of Robert (Bob) Ernest Phillips on November 19, 2023. Born in Saint John in 1936, he was the eldest son of the late Allan and Ethel Phillips.
Bob spent most of his adult life at sea working as a radio operator in the merchant navy (tanker and cargo ships). Vacations also involved travelling which resulted in him visiting 67 countries. His later years were dedicated to the care of our mother and always going over and above helping others.
Bob spent his last years at the Chateau and enjoyed leading and being involved in residence activities. He especially enjoyed “winning” at bingo and various challenges.
He is survived by his brothers Allan (Louise), Rick and sister Roxanne (Greg Morgan), nieces Cathy, Diane, Laura, Melissa and nephews Michael and Jeffery plus several great nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Bob was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Ann.
The arrangements are under the care and direction of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, N.B. (506 634 1701). It was Bob’s wishes to be cremated and that there be no service or visitation. Memorial donations towards a charity of your choice would be appreciated. Online condolences can be made at www.
