Obituary of John Edwin Race

It is with heavy hearts and deepest regrets that we announce the passing of a great man, John Edwin Race Sr. He left us peacefully on October 9, 2023, at Bobby’s Hospice. John was born in Sussex, NB, on April 11, 1952, to the late James and Ellen (nee Richardson) Race.

For those who knew John, he considered each one of you his family. He was a proud man, not just in stature but for knowing and having you all in his life. He chose to fight this battle on his own because it hurt his heart too much to share this information with all of you.

John is survived by his sons: John S. Race Jr., and Wayne Clark; daughters Crystal McKinny and Lycia Race; brother James Race; sister Florance Kerr; grandchildren; Tristen, Gianni, Haidyn, Kristen and Kyla; many great grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The family would like to thank all the staff and volunteers at Bobby’s Hospice. You were all so wonderful to John and made his stay there comfortable for him and his family.

Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Castle Funeral Home (309 Lancaster Ave., Saint John, NB) (506) 634-1701.
