Obituary of Kim Melvin
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our treasured brother Kim Melvin, on October 6, 2023. Kim died peacefully, and surrounded by his family, at his home after a very brief illness at the age of 69. Kim was the first child born to Mary and Walter “Bud” Melvin on November 14, 1953, in Summerside, PEI
Kim lived in Saint John his entire life and enjoyed the quiet simple life. He liked playing golf, pool, and cards with crib being his favorite. He loved Tim Hortons coffee and indulging in the occasional Alpine. Kim was a lifelong fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto BlueJays. Kim worked his entire career in retail; this included Lawson Motors, NAPA, and Giant Tiger. Kim was a part of the opening of the Giant Tiger store in Saint John many years ago, and he loved working there so much.
Kim is survived by his siblings: Heather Doucet (Paul) of Halifax, NS, and Debra Melvin (Willie), Robbie Melvin (Lisa), Randy Melvin (Tanya), Darren Melvin, and Jennifer Thibodeau (Brian) all of Saint John, NB; sister-in-law Debbie Melvin of Halifax, NS; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Kim was predeceased by his parents Mary and Walter “Bud” Melvin, and two of his loving brothers Scott Melvin and Kevin Melvin.
Kim’s family would like to thank Carl and the staff of Westport Care Home for taking such great care of him. Your kindness and dedication to patient care did not go unnoticed.
