Dear John David, Diane and family: JB spent a great deal of time with Tony over the years as a colleague, curler and friend. His passing has left us with sadness yet the fondest of shared memories. He is a leader, a mentor and gifted care giver to others. His ability to make humour in all life’s situations and events was a joy to witness and be part of! He has left us with these gifts he shared with us that brought us joy to our lives. Forever in our hearts and memories JB! Thanks for being part of ours. Love to you all John David, Diane and family. Love Tony and Dee Dee Gautreau and his NB Firefighter Champion Team Mates.

I remember my Dad (Jimmy) and Uncles David and Bobby Orr's first cousin, Brian, from the many annual parties we used to celebrate together, on Rodney and Ludlow Streets on the West side. We've always been a small family, the Lees, made up of the Browns (Great Aunt Ruth) and Orrs (Grammy Norma and Grampy Fred). I was an only child and an only grandchild at the time, who absorbed all of that good-heartedness and social tutelage from those men but two cousins in particular were larger than life: David Orr and Brian Brown. There was always singing and solidarity and Brian was always last to leave the party with a great story still rolling out. I don't think he actually knew how to do goodbyes because the story would pick right up the next time you saw him, my "cousin" the fireman.
We were lucky enough to introduce my son, Kaimana, to Brian on a trip home in 2016, at St. George's Restaurant, in the very church we would leave from each Christmas eve, to continue celebrating Brian Brown style late into the night. Brian was obviously well-loved and led a life of public service. That quality of caring for others is an inherited trait I believe and I bet Brian and Michael and David and my father, Jimmy, along with their parents, are continuing on in the great beyond. Our our Aloha and prayers, from your 'ohana in Hawai'i, Cousin Jamie, Jeremy and Kaimana

I’m terribly sad to hear the news of his passing . I hated to see him so weak, thin and tired all the time these last couple months. I was praying for his recovery, he always had a way to bring smile to faces and mine always lite up when he walked in a room..
Brian helped me settle into my new home. His personality brought people together. He welcomed me into the community, into his home and into his heart. He had a great sense of humour and I will miss him dearly. He was a loving friend and a great sponsor..

My sincere condolences to all of Brian’s family and friends. I came to know Brian through the world of recovery and he was so committed to helping others in their journeys to sobriety. When I worked at Sophia Recovery he would very often send women to us for help and he was always available to drive someone to a meeting or detox or just get them out of a harmful situation. He had such a big heart for people and he helped so many people find their way into the rooms. And funny…oh yes! He always had a story to tell and a laugh at the ready. He had a special way of disarming people and taking a genuine interest in everyone he met. He especially loved his family and had so much pride for John David. I don’t think there was one conversation where Brian did not mention his son, and his face would always light up when he spoke of him. Brian will be missed by many but his positive effects in the lives of many, many people will always live on.

Brian and I have been the best of friends for over 7 years. During those years, I have watched him give selflessly of himself to those in need without batting an eye. Day in and out he talked about how much he loved John David , Sam, Lilly, Dianne, and Vivian. He would visit Lily and be so joyful as he watched her grow over the few years. He was a very proud grandfather. When John Davis got married, Brian was over the moon with excitement and admiration for his son and daughter in law. He would drive by his mother and brothers grave sites daily to say a prayer and say thank you for all they did for him. He would go out of his way to check in on other people and make sure that they were okay. When my mother passed, Brian was the first person there for me and stood by my side the whole time. We have spent many holidays together crying over lost loved ones and then laughing at one another. Brian could make anyone laugh. He had a special ability to network people and to bring together the best of friendships. Because of Brian, I have many new friends that I call my family.
My sincere condolences to you all who are grieving this tremendous loss. He loved you all so very much. I love you Brian. You are forever in my heart, my thoughts, my prayers, and now my memories. Until we meet again my dear best friend.

I am shocked & saddened to hear of David's passing this afternoon. Just this morning I had been sharing the following memory of him:
I was 2 years old when my family lived next door to the Browns & one afternoon I decided to go to the Fundy Haven to get a strawberry ice cream in nothing but a diaper & my mother's sneakers. I made it all the way down the driveway & a short way past the Brown's when David pulled up to ask me where I was going. I told him I was going to get an ice cream. He asked me if I wanted to get a drive home. I said, "no."
"Well, I think you better get in," David said.
I remember hesitating for a minute before I got in & let him drive me back up my driveway.
"You looking for someone?" he asked as we pulled up to my mom, Lisa (Mawhinney, now Farrell) frantically searching for her toddler & her missing sneakers.
I never did get that ice cream, but I'm pretty sure I must have got a spanking. Lol. I am visiting the Bay from Calgary & my daughter is now 2 years old which made me remember that story.
My deepest condolences to the Brown family. Brian was a wonderful person. My prayers are with you at this difficult time.

Our sincerest condolences to Brian’s family. We were so fortunate to have met Brian when we first moved to Saint John and lived there for several years. We had so many good times and laughs together and yes!, Brian could keep us in stitches for hours. We will remember Brian with much love and fondness. As others have already mentioned, he devoted his time to people who were struggling. His car was always available and he was constantly providing rides to meetings and detox. We are grateful that we were able to connect with him when we were visiting in July. He came and met us for coffee which must have been difficult for him at that time. Rest in Peace Brian ❤️. You will be very much missed. Love Rick and Elviera Baker
