Obituary of Barbara Mary Galley
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Mary Galley on June 10, 2023, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Manchester, England on September 21, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Wilfred and Edith (nee Goring) Grundy.
Barbara is survived by her son Carl (Susan) of Saint John and her extended family in England. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Terence “George” Galley and their son Andrew Galley.
Barb spent her formative years in England with loving parents. She met her husband George, a dashing naval engineer, while on holiday and after a whirlwind romance they married. Soon after, sons Carl and Andy came along, and their family was complete. Barb and George lived in Australia for two years with their young family, before moving to Canada in the early 1980’s, living in Halifax and then Moncton. Barbara spent the last several years in Saint John at the Chateau Champlain where she enjoyed a special rapport with staff and friends.
Barb was an avid reader and enjoyed following golf on TV. She could be found walking the golf course with George whenever he played.
The family would like to extend a thank-you to all those who cared for Barbara recently at the Saint John Regional Hospital.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Castle Funeral Home (506) 634-1701 (309 Lancaster Ave., Saint John, NB). At Barbara’s request, there will be no public visiting or service; a private family gathering will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to a charity of your choice. To make online condolences, please visit www.Castlefh.ca
