Mr.McAuliffe was my elementary school principal for 7 years and its difficult to know I wasnt able to tell him how important he was to me.I'd like to think that people are themselves quilted together over time as we age , taking little pieces of wisdom here and there , shown love and compassion from others ,gifted skills taught from others.I learned alot from Mr.McAuliffe.He was such a blessing in my life and I would not be the man I am today without him.I'll never forget his jokes (or his laugh !) , I'll never forget his encouragement driving us to soccer games or basketball games, I 'll never forget when I broke my hand playing baseball and he carried me to the office and hugged me until my mom arrived.I'm proud to say I carry little pieces of Mr.McAuliffe wherever I go now with The Salvation Army.Showing the same love and compassion he showed to me , as dedicated to those vulnerable people as he was to his students.God bless you Mr.McAuliffe.

To Marks Family: my first encounter Mr. McAuliffe was when I attended NEW ALBERT SCHOOL he was the vice principal and I was in the library everyday early morning and after school. He always made a point to stick his head in and joking say " you got to get this place looking better than it was" that's when I would joke with the student librarians " we have to start from scratch".. Mr. McAuliffe orders...We lost connection when I moved from NAS. to LORNE MIDDLE but than we reconnected again when we both volunteered for the Ford World Curling.. I kept calling him Mr. McAuliffe and he kept saying we can be on first name bases I am Mark & my wife Mary.. l again lost connection with him until I started back at the Our Lady of the Assumption.. we worked meaning Mary & I worked in the bazzar room while he was serving tea or coffee. He & Mary would be at all the Knights of Columbus Breakfast each month after the 11:00 Mass.. You took on many hats for the Parish you & Mary both did and would do it without nobody not knowing it was the two of you... Dearest Mary,
Very saddened to learn of uncle Mark's passing. In him, was a soul of great compassion, depth and understanding. From when I first met him as a child, riding around Saint John in a van as he carried out the duties of a side job to pay for school, to his later visits to Alberta, and then hosting Valerie and I during our visit to Saint John in the summer of 2018, his presence was a mix of kindness, insight and humor few possess. He was an example, not just as a father to Monte, who he adored, but to nearly all who knew him. In walking throughout the city on a casual tour, not a minute would pass wherein someone was not beckoning a welcome or approaching to simply chat a bit. Uncle Mark, kept correspondence via e-mail. Often humorous observations and shared items he though I'd enjoy. I always did. Prayerful condolences to you Mary, and to Monte, Andrea, Christian and Maddy along with every family member now sharing this loss. Godspeed uncle Mark, may you know only everlasting peace.
