Obituary of Shawn (Chewie) Tyler Andrew O'Neill
It is with great sadness that the family of Shawn “Chewie” O’Neill announces his passing at the Saint John Reginal Hospital on March 9, 2023. Shawn was born in Saint John, NB on January 15, 1962, to the late John Gregory and Fay Vivian (nee Doucette) O’Neill.
Working as an NDT Welding Inspector and Radiographer, Shawn found himself travelling for work often. On his time off Shawn, and his best friend Kenny Colwell, would go on hunting and fishing trips. Shawn loved his family and his dog Murphy dearly.
Shawn is survived by his daughter Samantha (Nathan) Blizzard; son Andrew (Jess) O’Neill; grandchildren Hank and Loretta; brothers Trent (Monique) O’Neill and John O’Neill; sisters May (Vince) Painter and Erin (Jason) O’Neill; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents, and sisters Trina (Bill) and Diane (Jim).
The family would like to mention a special thank you to the dedicated staff of 5CS and the Palliative Care Unit at the Saint John Regional Hospital.
Resting at Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, N.B. (634 1701) visitation for Shawn will be held on Friday, March 17, 2023, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. A Funeral Liturgy will directly follow beginning at 1:00 PM in the Castle Funeral Home Chapel. Donations in Shawn’s memory can be made to the charity of your choice.
