Obituary of Doreen Catherine Boyd
With heavy hearts the family of Doreen Catherine Boyd wish to announce that she passed away peacefully on Friday September 16th, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.
Doreen chose a life dedicated to helping others working as a Registered Nurse for 41 years. She enjoyed volunteering with elementary school programs, the Red Cross, and the Saint John Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services. Doreen had an artistic side and spent much of her retirement sketching, painting, creating sand art, and traveling.
Family meant everything to Doreen and she is survived by her daughters Meta (George) Magee, Linda (Michael) MacKinnon, Christine Boyd, Sandra (Ron) Williams, and son Michael (Norma) Boyd; Grandchildren - Jeremy, Joey, Joe, Scott, Sara, Miranda, Jessica, Brandon, and Cooper; Great-Grandchildren Layla, Charles, Logan, Liam, Aidan, and one on the way due in April 2023; Brother James (Jimmy) Speagle; as well as beloved nieces and nephews. Doreen is predeceased by her parents, son Gordon (Gordie) Boyd, and sister Eleanor Mimeault.
Doreen’s family wish to express their sincere gratitude to the Loch Lomond Village (Dogwood House) staff for always showing compassion, care, and love to our precious Mom.
Resting at Castle Fallsview Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John, NB (506) 634-1701. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Doreen’s life on Tuesday, September 27th. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 PM - Doreen’s Celebration of Life Service will begin at 2:00 PM in the Castle Fallsview Chapel and reception to follow. A private family interment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers donations in Doreen’s memory may be made to the Saint John Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services Inc, or to the charity of your choice. For those who wish, condolences may be made by visiting www.castlefh.ca
