Obituary of Rosemarie Elizabeth Marchant-Smith
Sadly we announce the death of Rosemarie Elizabeth Marchant-Smith, nee McMenamon, on April 4, 2013. Born August 31, 1929 to the late Thomas A. McMenamon and Mary Ann Smith of West Saint John. Rosemarie was predeceased by her loving husband Simon Marchant-Smith of Strensall York UK. She was also predeceased by brothers William, Patrick, James and Edwin and her sister Mary Marshall. She is survived by her sister Kathleen Kiar of Ontario, her stepchildren Roderick (Australia) and Fiona (UK) and step-granddaughter Jemima (BC). Rosemarie enjoyed a career in nursing, which included joining the military and advancing to the rank of Captain in the Army. Later she would travel the world with husband Simon as he pursued his military career in the British Army as a member of the Green Howards. “Owie” was a proud aunt, great aunt, and great great aunt to dozens of nieces and nephews across Canada. She will be greatly missed by her close friends of many years and the residents of Chateau De Champlain. Visitation at Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John West on Friday April 12, 2013 from 10 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon from Assumption Church West Saint John.
