Obituary of Katherine Fair
Fair, Katherine Frances “Kathy” Passed away peacefully, after a courageous battle with cancer, on Thursday, January 12, 2012 at Bobby’s Hospice. Born on September 11, 1943, in Saint John, NB she was the daughter of the late Francis and Eleanor (Kelly) McGrath. Wife of the late Donald Fair. Kathy was a 1960 graduate of Mount Carmel Academy and worked for Sears, the National Bank and then CIBC, for twenty years before retiring. She was very active in the Assumption Parish as a Catechism Teacher, and later RCIA sponsor and coordinator. She sang in the Assumption Choir as well as a Folk choir directed by Carmel Murphy. In recent years she spent her summers in her Mom’s beloved homeland of Souris, PEI. She will be sadly missed by her husband, Sid Paquet; sons Sterling (Jennifer), Stephen, Donald (Nicole) and daughter, Wendy (Tim) Maber; five brothers, Kenny McGrath, John (Susan) McGrath, Wayne (Gail) McGrath, Stuart (Jennie) Rogers and Paul (Joanne) Cameron; two sisters, Mary (Allen) Barron and Libby (Brian) Brons; five grandchildren, Timothy (Meagan) Fair, Lauren Maber, Will Maber, Sean Fair and Avery Fair; great-grandchild, Oliver Fair and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Resting at Castle Funeral Home, “Fallsview Chapel”, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John West, (634-1701) visitation will take place on Saturday, January 14, 2012 and Sunday, January 15, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, January 16, 2012 at 12:00 p.m. from Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Interment will take place at Ward’s Creek Catholic Cemetery, Sussex in the spring. A reception will be held at the Assumption Center, immediately following the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations, in memory of Kathy, may be made to Bobby’s Hospice or St. Vincent De Paul.
