Obituary of Elwood Watson
Mr. Elwood Bertie Watson of Quispamsis passed away peacefully after a short illness on December 30, 2013 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in West Saint John on August 31, 1928, the son of the late Frank and Amy (Silliphant) Watson. He graduated from both the Saint John High School and the Saint John Vocational School. Elwood was an office and warehouse manager of The Ford Motor Company for 43 years. He was a member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church, enjoyed fishing, hunting and golfing. Some would call him a jack of all trades. Elwood is survived by his loving wife of 68 years Florence Watson (O’Dell); one son John E. Watson (Bonnie) of Saint John; three daughters, Christine Cornfield (Donald) of Grand-Bay, Janet Stewart (Marc) of Clifton Royal and Ann Watson of Quispamsis. Also survived by 10 grandchildren, Robert Cornfield (Angela), Gordon Cornfield (Valerie), Heather Armstrong (Greg), Caroline Pasqualetto (Tony), Sherry Cornfield, Michael Stewart (Vickie), Lori Richard (Eric), Jason Watson (Amy), Jennifer van Horssen (Peter), Holly Richard (Ronald) and 21 great-grandchildren; as well as several cousins. Elwood really enjoyed time he spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Elwood was predeceased by his parents. Resting at Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, NB, E2M 2L3. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2014 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. To honor Elwood’s wishes there will be a private family service.
