Obituary of Stanley Holmes

The death of Stanley E. Holmes, husband of Irene (Jones) Holmes, occurred on May 24, 2011 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Birmingham, England in 1924, he was the son of the late Wilfred E. and Olive (Shuter) Holmes of England and Saint John. Besides his wife Irene, he is survived by his brother Les Holmes and nephew Craig Holmes of Mississauga, ON; niece, Carol Hall of Belwood, ON and their families. Stan attended Saint John High School and Saint Mary’s Anglican Church. He was a veteran of WWII with the R.C.A.F. Stanley worked at M.R.A.’s and the Saint John Post Office. He enjoyed travelling, cooking, reading, and spectator sports. Resting at Castle “Fallsview” Funeral Home 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John West (634-1701) with visiting on Friday, May 27, 2011 from 2 to 4 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2011 at 11 a.m. from Castle Funeral Home “Fallsview Chapel”. The interment will follow at Fernhill Cemetery. Donations in Stanley’s memory may be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church, or the charity of one’s choice.
