Obituary of Eleazar Jones

“The gates of Heaven swung open, a loving voice said “come” , Eleazar gently took his Masters hand and his life on earth was done.”The death of Eleazar Jones occurred on Friday January 20th, 2017 at The Loch Lomond Village at age 89. Born in Upper Island Cove, Newfoundland he was the son of the late George Jones and Rose Ambrose Jones. Besides his parents, Eleazar was also predeceased by his loving sisters, Myrtle Jones, Elizabeth (Arthur) Young, and Rachel (Eddy) Drover. Eleazar is survived by Shirley, his loving wife of 68 years, and sons Warren Jones (Donna) of Rothesay, and George Jones (Janet) of Saint John; 4 grandchildren Derek, Alison, Christopher and Jennifer; 2 great grandchildren Emma and Abigail.Eleazar retired as a mill wright from Irving Pulp and Paper after 40 years. Eleazar and Shirley’s favourite place to be was their beloved cottage at the Cambridge Narrows, on the Washademoak Lake, which he totally re-built after retiring. He always felt blessed to have his family around him and would say his greatest enjoyment was his family.The family would like to express our deepest heart felt appreciation to the Staff at the Loch Lomond Village for the professional and tender loving care they gave our Father during his 2 year stay with them. And, also for the love and kindness they always showed our family.Resting at Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John (634-1701). Visitation will be held on Wednesday January 25, 2017 from 2:00-4:00pm & 6:00-8:00pm. A Celebration of Eleazar’s life will be held from Calvary Temple Church (83 Sydney Street) on Thursday January 26, 2017 at 1:00pm. Interment will follow at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. For those who wish, a remembrance may be made to Calvary Temple, Loch Lomond Villa Foundation, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
