Obituary of Leigh Donovan

BY REQUEST OF FAMILY, Due to poor weather conditions the funeral service has been moved to 12:30 pm Thursday January 27 It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Leigh Donovan born August 9 1937. Leigh passed away peacefully on January 24 2011 with family and friends at bedside at the Carleton Kirk Lodge after a two week battle with pneumonia. Survived by three children Elizabeth (Paul) Lydon (Donovan), Catherine Donovan, Robert Donovan, three sisters, a brother, and several nieces and nephews. Leigh loved people and would often be found off talking to a stranger. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Predeceased by wife of 39 years Inez Joyce (Chipman) Donovan who died in 2005 after a battle with cancer, Leigh has been living at the Carleton Kirk Lodge where he loved to garden, participate in numerous activities, and torment the nurses. Prior to his wife’s death, Leigh worked and lived in his birthplace Plaster Rock, NB, where a large part of his family and friends still reside. A very special thank you goes out to the wonderful staff from Carleton Kirk Lodge. Leigh truly loved all of you, many were like family to him. A special thank you also goes out to Dr. Peter West for his genuine kindness and effort to care for Leigh. Everyone is welcome to attend his funeral service which will be held January 27, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Carleton-Kirk United Church, 1 Carleton Kirk Place. In lieu of flowers, donations in Leigh’s name may be made to the palliative care fund for Carleton Kirk Lodge in memory of Leigh.
