Obituary of Vivian Cormier

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Vivian Teresa Cormier, with her family by her side at Bobby’s Hospice on February 1, 2013 at the age of 84. Vivian was the daughter of the late William and Nellie (Ferguson) Ervin and for the past 67 years spent her life with her husband Donville Emery Cormier. Vivian was predeceased by her daughter Doreen, son David, grandson Jason Gates, sister Valarie and brothers, Richard, Roy, Ronald, Eddie, Butch and Paul. She is survived by her husband Donville, daughter Diane of Saint John,  son Donville Jr. (Dianne) of Prince of Wales, son Danny (Barbara Norden) of Saint John, daughter Shirley of Saint John, daughter-in-law Becky Cormier, brother Ralf (Rose) of Saint John, brother Bobby (Maureen) of Grand Bay-Westfield, five  grandchildren: Robby Gates (Heather), Stacey Gilmore (Roy), Donnie Cormier (Angela), Michael Cormier,  Neil Cormier and step granddaughter Billi-Jo McKinnon-Yelle; she also has nine great-grandchildren: Megan, Kristen, Natasha, Briar, Blake, Brooke, Paige, Kaleb, and Lauren as well as many nieces and nephews. Vivian’s greatest love was her family. She was so proud of each and every one of them, and loved to tell the story of her Grandfather Harry “Dutch” Ervin, who was the founder of the Empty Stocking Fund. She was a lifelong member of the St Jude & St George’s Church. One of Vivian’s greatest joy’s in life was the time she spent at the church. Whether it was at the Altar or in the kitchen you could always find Vivian with a smile on her face eager to help with anything. For the past 30 years Vivian had devoted her time serving the Church Vestry and Altar Guild, she was also a member of the church Hand bells, Martha and Mary’s and The Mother’s Union. For many years Vivian also enjoyed being a member of her bowling league “The Muskies”.  Visitation will take place on Monday, February 4th, 2013 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm and Tuesday, February 5th, 2013 from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm at Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John, NB. A funeral service will be held at St. George’s Church at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, February 6, 2013. Interment will follow the service at Cedar Hill Greenwood Cemetery. Reception following interment at St George’s Church hall.   Donations can be made to Bobby’s Hospice (Hope House).
