Obituary of Al Richard

Joseph Paul “Alesson” “Big Al” Richard passed away peacefully on Friday January 22, 2016 at the Sussex Health Center. Born January 9, 1934 he was a son of the late Vital and Ozelie Richard. In his younger years Al was an amateur wrestler and he had the title of NB and Eastern Maine wrestling Champion. Big Al was an avid outdoorsman hunting, fishing and loved to go to Richibucto clam digging and lobster fishing. Big Al loved to be around his family and friends, he always got excited to share his hunting escapades in his native French language, and he always enjoyed a good game of cards. He was a member ILA #273 and a millwright, and was a former member of the RCL branch #2. Alesson will be sadly missed by his cherished wife Denisa (Leblanc); loving children, son Yvon Richard of Clover Hill, NB; daughters Judy (Ron) Dow of Saint John, NB; Christine (Mike) Hutton of Halifax, NS; Jacqueline (Denis Maltais) Richard of Clover Hill, NB; his brothers Norman (Vivian) Richard of Saint John, NB, Yvon (Theresa) Comeau of St. Charles, NB; grandchildren Christopher McDonald, Gabrielle Dow, Liam Hutton; Great Granddaughter Miley Tanguay, several nieces and nephews. Al was predeceased by brothers Rheal Richard, infant brother Yvon Richard; infant sister Elmonde Richard; granddaughter Kelly-Ann Richard Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John (634-1701). Visitation will be held on Monday January 25, 2016 from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9 pm.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 from Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church at 10:00am. Interment will take place at a later date. Donations in Big Al’s memory can be made to the Arthritis society.
