Ann: I am so sorry to hear of Doug's passing. Seems like I have known him all of my life from when we moved to St. James St. in 1953 up to including his comments at both my Father & Mother's funerals in 1989 and 2003.His contributions to the West Side and Hillcrest Church will live on and his shoes will be hard to fill. Please pass my condolences to Doug, Fred, Betty-Ann, Bill and Debbie. Many years have gone by since I have had contact with them; but want them to know their Dad was there for my parents when assistance and comforting was needed. Again my condolences to all on the loss of a wonderful husband, father and friend to so many. Lorne Lister

I was shocked and saddened to see Doug's death in the paper today. I first met Doug many years ago through my husband Doug Lifford, a long-time neighbour on the Westside. I also worked with Doug at the Post Office for several years. Most recently, I often saw Doug and Ann when they came to visit my special friend, the late Grace Price at LLV. Doug always had time for a few kind words when you met him. He will be greatly missed by many.

I had hoped to attend the visitation, but can't leave home this week because our road is closed due to flood waters and erosion. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
